Colin is a seasoned senior cyber security expert with over two and half decades of experience in information security, cybercrime, and computer forensics. Based in Malahide, Co. Dublin, Ireland, Colin has established himself as a leader in the field, combining technical expertise with a strong commitment to education and professional development.

Professional Background

Colin is currently a Principal CISO Advisor at Avovado Systems an advanced application security, threat vulnerability and security XDR company based in California. Colin is in charge of assisting CISO's and in charge of all Sales for Ireland & Europe for Avocado systems https://www.avocadosys.com/

Colin is also a senior consultant at his own company, Quantum Infinite Solutions Ltd. where he provides comprehensive cyber security services. He founded the company to deliver specialised offerings, including Cyber Security Management training, Security Hardening Services, Digital Forensics, OSINT Profiling, and CSIRT Team training. His leadership as the principal SOC/CSIRT Team Lead & Manager ensures that teams are equipped to respond rapidly and effectively to cyber threats.Previously,

Colin served as the Security Operations Centre & Threat Vulnerability Management Manager at Gas Networks Ireland until June 2024. In this role, he oversaw the Cyber Security Incident Response Program for Ireland's national gas grid and led initiatives to fortify the company's cyber defences.

Colin's extensive experience also includes significant roles at Allianz Technology, Irish Electrical Supply Board (ESB), DocuSign & the National Treasury of Ireland (NTMA), where he was instrumental in developing security operations and managing incident responses across Europe.

Academic Contributions

Colin is dedicated to education as a former lecturer at the National College of Ireland, where he designed and taught master's level courses in cyber security. His contributions include:

• Penetration Testing: Lectured on this critical topic at the Higher Diploma level.

• Curriculum Development: Played a key role in redesigning the master's course curriculum to meet industry standards.

• International Teaching: Delivered lectures to the Abu Dhabi law enforcement and military personnel, sharing his expertise on cyber security practices.

His academic background is complemented by a Master’s degree in Computer Forensics (law enforcement specialised) coming in top 1% of his class & Cyber Crime from University College Dublin and a Higher Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling from Dublin Business School, a degree in Law & policing as well as his primary degree in Software engineering out of Waterford Institute of Technology.. I also spent 15 years as a Member of An Garda Siochana (Irish Police Force) with honourable distinction (awarded 7 commendations for excellent policing in uniform and detective roles). I was lead forensic specialist trained in Ireland and the United Kingdom for murder investigations, shootings, robberies and more in the Northern Division of Dublin from 2006-2012. Law Enforcement gave me a great base for honour, integrity, policing and detective skillsets which i have now brought to the government, private and semi state sector.
